ATI v8.20.8 Display Drivers
As you can see from our results, there is not much in the way of any performance gains from running this latest 8.20.8 Linux display drivers compared against the previous ATI 8.19.10. However, this doesn't go to say an upgrade is not needed as these drivers do feature some improvements in the way of fixes as well as we have not seen any noticeable performance drop after the implementation of these drivers. Unfortunately, unlike the ATI CATALYST 5.12 drivers also released today, the 8.20.8 drivers do not offer any Symmetric Multi-Processing support nor does it support the X1K series or CrossFire. As this will likely be the last GNU/Linux release for the year, we can only ponder over what 2006 will bring for ATI and its Linux advancements.
