Corsair Secure Digital 133x
As Corsair is complying with the SD memory card specifications from the Secure Digital Association (the governing counsel of the SD standard), the memory device measures in at 24 x 32 x 2.1 mm and its just like the rest of its competition when it comes to the external appearance. The Corsair SD card has a blue colored body and on the top of the device is a blue and green Corsair sticker that advertises its 133x series, while on the left hand side is the small lock switch for preventing accidental writes. Surprisingly, unlike the Flash Voyager thumb-drive, which was one of the first on the market to advertise being waterproof, the Corsair SD 133x card has no official claims in regards to water, dust, and temperature proofing like we had seen with the ATP 150X ProMax 1GB SD, which was reviewed several months ago.
Although the exterior of the Corsair CMFSD133-512 may look identical to other Secure Digital products, it prides itself upon the 133x rating and Corsair manufacturing. In order to get a better understanding for its performance abilities, we hit the Corsair SD 133x 512MB with a slew of our Linux tests. For comparison numbers, we also re-tested the ATP 150X ProMax 1GB SD and SanDisk 256MB SD. For benchmarking, we used HDparm, timed file transfer, and timed multiple file transfer to stress all three of these flash media devices. All testing of these devices occurred inside of an Atech ProGear card reader. Inserting the 512MB Corsair Secure Digital 133x media into a Nikon CP P1 digital camera, there were room for approximately 124 photographs taken at the highest 8.0 megapixel quality possible. The Corsair SD 133x card had no problems operating in the Nikon P1 as well as other high-end models.
