ATI v8.22.5 Display Drivers
Looking over the results, there certainly is no reason to upgrade in hopes of experiencing a higher overall frame-rate as our tests had verified that there is a minimal performance difference between the v8.21.7 and v8.22.5 drivers. Of course, the Linux 2.6.15 kernel support and other small improvements may very well make it worth the upgrade, while not missing any frames. However, we have experienced some issues with X2 - The Threat and kernel panics when launching the game, as well as a few other minor areas that we are presently in the middle of investigating. It is also important to reiterate that the motherboard used in testing is a server/workstation oriented solution. As mentioned earlier, the v8.22.5 release is groundwork for other items that will be implemented shortly. In the near future, we will also be further showcasing XGL with ATI Linux graphics solutions.
