SilverStone Milo ML01
Finally getting a good look at the SilverStone Milo ML01, its design and features is very reminisces of the SilverStone Lascala HTPC series except on a much smaller scale. The case weighs only 5kg and measures in at 330 x 98 x 423 mm. The front panel is made of aluminum while the rest of the body is composed of 0.8mm SECC steel. Starting with the front panel on the front is SilverStone's logo in the upper right hand corner while below that is the power and reset switches, as well as the LED indicators. On the top edge of the front bezel are dedicated intake vents.
On the left side of the front bezel are the external drive bays as well as some I/O ports. Found on the ML01 is one external 5.25" drive bay and one external 3.5" bay. However, what isn't mentioned on the SilverStone website is that the card reader versions of the ML01 actually take up the external 3.5" drive bay. With only a single external 3.5" drive bay, this can possibly cause problems for some users. We would much rather see the card reader directly integrated into the chassis elsewhere. The I/O ports in this area include one USB 2.0, one IEEE-1394a Firewire, and two audio ports (with one being for the microphone). A door conceals these ports and the external 3.5” drive bay while a flap for CD/DVD drives conceals the 5.25” bay.
The left side of the case is relatively free of anything worth highlighting except for the PSU fan vent; on the right hand side are a series of vents for helping with ventilation. Foot stands are included thus allowing the Milo to be setup in a horizontal or vertical setup. At the rear of the MoDT chassis is additional ventilation. A power supply does ship with the ML01, which is a SilverStone 300W PSU. The power supply does not contain any exhaust fans but only a single intake fan exposed on the left hand side of the case. At the rear of the case is the I/O panel as well as four PCI slots. Due to the compact dimensions of the case, the PCI slots are not full length but rather fit the low profile specifications.
