The TJ08 is engineered for micro ATX motherboards and smaller. For our purposes, we had used the Tyan Tomcat i945GM motherboard. The Tyan i945GM S3095 is a Flex ATX motherboard that offers support for Intel's mobile CPUs (Core 2 Duo, Core Duo, Core Solo, Pentium M, and Celeron M). We had used the motherboard in conjunction with a modular power supply, SATA optical drive and hard drive, and an Intel Celeron M processor.

Installing this hardware into the Temjin TJ08 was effortless, well for the most part. The single issue we had run into with the TJ08 was the spacing between the power supply and optical drive. There was barely any room between the back of the DVD drive and the power supply area, which had made it a hassle to install the modular cables for the Seasonic M12 PSU. However, after a few minutes of cable arranging we managed to get the modular cables connected to the power supply. The removable motherboard tray had also worked very well with the Flex ATX motherboard. Those using a micro ATX motherboard will want to mount the motherboard in the chassis prior to installing any hard drives.

From the exterior the Temjin TJ08 continues in SilverStone's sleek yet elegant chassis design. The front panel is composed of aluminum while the remainder is made of SECC steel. Opening up the chassis we were impressed with its design especially when it came to the cooling abilities. While we had used a mobile processor for testing in this system, the dual 120mm fans had performed very well and were relatively quiet. The micro ATX case does not offer any tool-free or screw-less options, but even so we had no problems installing hardware in there and carrying out other hardware changes. In fact the SilverStone Temjin TJ08 is truly one of the few micro ATX cases that we have enjoyed working with for extended periods of time. Our main issue with the TJ08 was with the room between the power supply and optical drive, but overall it was a great case. At this time the Temjin TJ08 can be purchased for approximately $99 USD, which is not that bad of a deal for a SilverStone product. Look forward to a Phoronix review on the Temjin TJ09 next month.
