Linux 2.6.23-rc2 Kernel Performance
There was not much deviation in performance between the Linux 2.6.20.15, 2.6.21.6, 2.6.22.1, and 2.6.23-rc2 kernels tested, but the Linux 2.6.23-rc2 kernel had held its ground and was marginally faster in some of the benchmarks. Even though there are no significant real-world performance gains in the Linux 2.6.23-rc2 kernel with the hardware and benchmarks we had used, the changes are certainly interesting and worth further exploration. If we come across any performance changes in the later Linux 2.6.23 release candidates or the final release, we will deliver additional benchmarks.
