Towards the back of the CPU socket area is the end of the SilentPipe cooler. The GA-X38-DQ6 motherboard supports up to Intel's Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Quad processors, including the forthcoming 45nm processors.

At the motherboard's I/O panel are eight USB 2.0, two Gigabit ethernet, eight audio, two Firewire, and two PS/2 ports. The GA-X38-DQ6 uses Gigabyte's Ultra Durable 2 capacitors to lower the operating temperature, prevent core energy loss, and extend the lifetime of the all-solid capacitors.
