How AMD's Proprietary Linux Driver Evolved In 2015
Lastly are the synthetic GpuTest results.
The GpuTest results did change a bit for some of the sub-tests over the course of 2015, but overall no big performance changes.
Team Fortress 2 was the sole Linux game tested where it saw a significant boost in performance for 2015. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive also saw a big performance increase thanks to finally having a Catalyst application profile.
While the open-source Radeon driver evolved a lot in 2015, the same can't be said for Catalyst / Radeon Software. On the Linux side, the proprietary driver was mostly just moving along with bug fixes and small updates over the course of the few driver updates released in 2015. With Vulkan around the corner, hopes of the new Radeon Software Control Center coming to Linux, usage of the AMDGPU DRM driver, and more, hopefully 2016 will be a more exciting year for the proprietary Radeon Software driver.
