While QGears2 is a benchmark of the older Qt4 tool-kit and using the X RENDER back-end, it's interesting to note that the newest NVIDIA GPUs (GTX 970/980 and GTX 750 series) and AMD GPUs (Radeon R9 290) are slower than the older graphics processors, likely due in part due to lower clock speeds for these more efficient GPUs. The fastest results for QGears2 ended up being with the Catalyst driver for this synthetic micro-benchmark.
With GtkPerf, some of the results were just all over the place with no clear winner.
