Trying The Experimental Radeon RX 480 Overclocking With AMDGPU OverDrive Isn't Going So Well

The 3~4% overclock of the GPU core doesn't mean much on the RX 480 for the overall Linux gaming performance... Here you can see the effect of the bad memory overclocking right now on the RX 480.

I haven't yet tested this 4.8 code on other AMD GPUs with OverDrive to see if the memory clocking is bugged there.

Unigine Heaven was unstable with the 4% overclock but did work fine at 3%.

Same story with Valley...

The system power consumption results during testing show the GPU usage was significantly lower when the buggy memory re-clocking was used, likely confirming the RX 480 Polaris dropped into its lowest power state when hitting these problems.

More tests will come once the AMDGPU OverDrive kinks have all been worked out.
