While the Ryzen CPUs did very well with the Darktable photography software, with the GIMP image manipulation program the single-threaded test shows Ryzen 3 as better than the previous-generation AMD CPUs but not competing with the Skylake and Kabylake processors.

Lastly with the Blender 3D modeling benchmark running strictly on the CPU (no OpenCL/CUDA), the Ryzen 3 1300X does outperform the FX-8350/FX-8370 CPUs as well as the Core i3 7100. The Ryzen 3 1200 meanwhile comes out just behind the i3-7100.

Overall out of these raw performance figures, the Ryzen 3 CPUs are competitive and provide much value at $110~130 USD. In many of the tests the Ryzen 3 1200/1300X were outperforming the similarly-priced Intel Core i3 7100 Kabylake, except for areas of single-threaded performance.
