AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 With Framework Desktop vs. Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Linux Performance

When taking the geometric mean of all 200+ CPU benchmarks run on each of these processors, the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 within the Framework Desktop was achieving 1.21x the performance of the 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285K "Arrow Lake" processor. Over 1.2x the performance of Intel's current flagship desktop processor isn't even the most amazing part... It's the Strix Halo power efficiency.

Over the span of those 200+ benchmarks the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 had a 91 Watt average and a peak of 119 Watts. Meanwhile the Core Ultra 9 285K had a 155 Watt average and a 315 Watt peak. The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in the Framework Desktop was 1.21x faster at just over half (57%) the power consumption of that top-end Arrow Lake processor. AMD Ryzen AI Max "Strix Halo" continues to impress me everyday for its capable laptop performance in the HP ZBook Ultra G1a, incredible integrated graphics performance, and class-leading power efficiency.

Lastly is the geometric mean of all the iGPU benchmarks for those interested. Intel Arrow Lake continues to provide better graphics performance than the very limited RDNA2 graphics found with the Ryzen 9000 series but with AMD Ryzen AI Max "Strix Halo" the integrated graphics come out delivering 8.2x the performance of the Core Ultra 9 285K's Xe graphics.
