AMD Ryzen 9 9950X DDR5-6000 / DDR5-6400 / DDR5-8000 Memory Performance
With the HPCG benchmark that is very memory bandwidth intensive, the DDR5-8000 memory kits were yielding the fastest performance -- obviously with the DDR5-8000 CL36 memory coming out ahead of the CL38 kit. Going from the DDR5-6000 to DDR5-8000 memory with the Ryzen 9 9950X was an 8% uplift in performance for this rigorous HPC benchmark.
With the NPB HPC benchmarks, the DDR5-6400 memory was performing comparable to the DDR5-8000 memory kits in a number of the workloads. The DDR5-6400 thanks to running the UCLK 1:1 was comparable to the DDR5-8000 memory in many of these demanding benchmarks. The DDR5-6400 kit was also purchased for $215 with the 64GB kit compared to the 32GB DDR5-8000 kit costing comparable, so twice the amount of memory if going after the best value.
Going from the DDR5-6000 to DDR5-6400 memory was commonly yielding 6~7% better performance in these system benchmarks.
