With the Unigine Tropics test, the latest open-source Radeon driver comprised of Mesa 10.3-devel and Linux 3.17 led to just 14% the speed of Catalyst on Linux for this high-end Hawaii graphics card.
Given the current Radeon R9 290 open-source issues, the Xonotic performance is only at around 20% the speed of Catalyst with the Radeon R9 290.
