Testing AMD's New FirePro Linux Driver With The FirePro V8750

Right off the bat with the 3ds Max test found in SPECViewPerf 10, there was a definitive performance benefit from using the newer fglrx 8.70.3 release. The fglrx 8.70.3 release was 31.5% faster than the fglrx 8.66.10 release found in Ubuntu 9.10! This is even better than the advertised 20~25%+ mentioned in the driver's press release.
With CATIA, the newer FirePro-certified driver is 33% faster.
Running the PRO/Engineer, the speed-up was similar with the weighted geometric mean coming out 33% ahead.
