AMD Radeon HD 8670D: Gallium3D vs. Catalyst

Nexuiz on the current open-source driver for the Radeon HD 8670D is about 20% the speed of the Catalyst 13.6 Beta Linux graphics driver.

The lacking OpenArena 0.8.5 game is just about 38% the speed of Catalyst. This is the experience today with Linux 3.10 and Mesa 9.2-devel. At least in the coming months there will dynamic power management with Linux 3.11 and hopefully more R600 Gallium3D shader optimizations to make up for some of the performance difference.

OpenArena 0.8.8 on the overclocked A10-6800K is about 35% the speed of Catalyst when using the latest mainline open-source driver.
