Fedora 20 Yields Great Linux Performance On AMD's Kabini APU

The PostMark disk performance dropped off when applying the Fedora 20 updates that led it to using the Linux 3.13 kernel in place of Linux 3.11. Fortunately, when upgrading to the Linux 3.14 kernel the regression was resolved.

With the kernel upgrades and then moving to Mesa 10.1, the AMD Kabini Radeon HD 8210 graphics performance improved each step of the way...

When using the open-source Radeon/Intel/Nouveau graphics drivers, generally the newer the kernel and Mesa, the better.

Sadly Fedora 20 still has OpenGL 2.1 support by default instead of OpenGL 3.x due to not installing S3TC support by default for legal reasons.
