Open-Source Radeon Takes On AMD Catalyst In 2D Performance

With the QGears2 text test using the Qt4 X RENDER back-end, the open-source driver performance was generally ahead of the Catalyst 14.6 beta driver. The only graphics card where Catalyst yielded faster frame-rates than the open-source EXA/GLAMOR acceleration was the low-end Radeon HD 6450.
The open-source AMD Linux stack led in all of the QGears2 Gears tests.
A win for the Catalyst driver was found with the image scaling test.
