AMD's Shanghai is about 20% faster than the Barcelona at encoding an MP3 file using LAME.
Encrypting a 2GB file with GnuPG hadn't led to much of a difference between processors until dropping in two 2.7GHz Shanghai CPUs.
Two 2.7GHz Shanghai parts were about 18% faster than two 2.3GHz Barcelona CPUs with OpenSSL RSA 4096-bit performance.
