R600 Gallium3D Loses To AMD Catalyst Legacy Driver On Windows 8

Nexuiz was running at half the speed under Linux with the latest R600 Gallium3D code when compared to the Catalyst Legacy 13.4 Beta on Windows 8 with this Radeon HD 4870 (RV770) graphics card on the Intel Core i7 4770K Haswell system.
OpenArena was also losing by large margins under Ubuntu 13.10 compared to Windows 8 with the still-working Catalyst Legacy driver. At least for these test runs the frame-rates were above 60 FPS.
This also obviously meant higher frame latencies under Linux.
