Clear Linux With Mesa 13 Is A Strong Match For Intel Linux Performance
With higher quality Xonotic image settings, the lead narrowed for Clear Linux.
Too bad Steam can't run on Clear Linux yet as that would be very fun to see how the performance compares. Lastly are just some synthetic GpuTest results.
The synthetic GpuTest results for the HD Graphics 530 don't tend to be too interesting except for the triangle sub-test that's usually limited by video memory performance.
Well, those are the latest results with Clear Linux on Mesa 13. The performance advantage of Intel's Clear Linux distribution is interesting to see that there are still gains present for Clear even when other distributions are on Linux 4.8 and similar Mesa 13. Clear Linux continues to be aggressive across the entire stack for its compiler optimizations, using profile guided optimizations in some areas, using CPUFreq over P-State, and other modifications in the name of striving to offer the greatest out-of-the-box Linux performance. Unfortunately for Linux gamers, the lack of Steam is likely a deal-breaker along with no support for the AMD/NVIDIA drivers, not even the open-source Radeon stack.
