Intel Core i3, i5, i7 With NVIDIA vs. AMD Radeon For Linux Gaming
The Dawn of War 3 NVIDIA performance was the same across the tested CPUs.
There was little scaling between the tested CPUs with Mad Max. Again, a more concentrated OpenGL vs. Vulkan comparison with the Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs will be featured in its own article this week.
Those wishing to dig through some additional Linux gaming performance numbers for this CPU/GPU comparison can see this OpenBenchmarking.org result file. Unfortunately this comparison was somewhat hampered by the Radeon issues on Git, but a similar comparison may be repeated in the future once things better stabilize and Vega DC support mainlined. For most users, the Core i3 8100 appears quite competent as a true quad-core CPU and retails for less than $120.
