DragonFlyBSD vs. FreeBSD vs. Ubuntu 20.04 On Intel's Core i9 10900K Comet Lake
The PHP performance was surprisingly much stronger on Ubuntu than DragonFlyBSD/FreeBSD even with all three operating systems using PHP 7.4.
From the two dozen plus tests run for this quick comparison, Ubuntu 20.04 was in first place about 90% of the time.
FreeBSD 12.1 with Clang was the fastest BSD configuration tested on this particular Core i9 10900K. FreeBSD 12.1 was about 38% faster than DragonFlyBSD when looking at the tests that ran on all tested configurations. Ubuntu 20.04 in turn was around 28% faster than FreeBSD 12.1 on this tested set of benchmarks. But at least both BSDs were running out-of-the-box on this Intel Comet Lake + Z490 setup sans the Ethernet support.
