The Gcrypt results were a mixed bag along with GnuPG.

With the NAS Parallel benchmarks and the UA.A test, among others, there was a nice speed-up under the 64-bit Debian testing but no major change between Lenny and Squeeze with the 32-bit machine.

These test results from Debian Etch/Lenny/Squeeze are not too surprising considering our past benchmarks looking at the Ubuntu performance, our five years of Linux kernel benchmarks, and our GCC benchmarks. For the most part, they are what we expected, but if you were hoping for Squeeze to be much faster, you will just have to hope Debian 7.0 "Wheezy" will be better. With Debian 6.0 there is also Debian GNU/kFreeBSD, which makes the Squeeze release more interesting along with the other features provided by the updated packages over the course of the past two years.
