With x265 video encoding, the performance between GCC and Clang was comparable on the BSDs. FreeBSD 12.1 and the FreeBSD-based GhostBSD were delivering better performance than Ubuntu 20.04 while DragonFlyBSD 5.8 came out much slower on the Core i9 10980XE.

DragonFlyBSD and GhostBSD came out slightly ahead of Ubuntu in the Stockfish chess benchmark.

For code compilation speed, GhostBSD/FreeBSD with Clang were delivering much quicker build times.

Making use of GCC yielded faster performance on the BSDs for the C-Ray ray-tracing workload.
