Framework Desktop Power Mode Tuning For Better Performance Or Power Efficiency
In some of the graphics benchmarks like the ParaView workstation visualization software there were some benefits to these power mode adjustments. The performance mode provided slightly better performance while the power saver mode yielded a significant hit to the performance but at the cost of greatly reduced power consumption.
The power saver mode led to the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 power consumption being nearly halved and significant reductions on the total system power consumption too. But in terms of overall system power consumption the power saver mode was still behind the default and balanced modes.
For many of the GPU benchmarks the power mode changes didn't yield any significant difference to performance.
Hashcat was one of the GPU compute benchmarks where switching to the performance mode had helped with delivering better performance but at the cost of increased power use.
