Zstd as shipped in each operating system's repository saw the fastest performance on FreeBSD 15.0 over the Ubuntu builds.
The x265 video encoder as shipped by the OS package managers also saw the best performance on FreeBSD 15.0 for this AMD EPYC 9965P server.
When building x265 4.1 from source on all of the operating systems rather than the OS supplied packages, FreeBSD 15.0 was still delivering slightly better performance here than on Ubuntu.
Overall FreeBSD 15.0 was performing well on this 96-core AMD EPYC server relative to Ubuntu Linux.
