The Compile Bench test profile was faster when being built with LLVM Clang 3.1 over GCC 4.2.1. GCC 4.2.1 was release is from August of 2007 but is important to BSD developers for being the last GPLv2 release of the compiler.

There wasn't much performance difference between the new LLVM/Clang and old GCC with the HMMer program.

The Botan cryptography benchmarks were mixed from GCC having the upperhand to the opposite when dealing with other ciphers.
