GCC 15 Compiler Demonstrating Measurable Performance Gains For AMD EPYC Turin

Seeing the biggest gain when being built under GCC 15 rather than GCC 14 was the Memcached software. Over 20% better performance out of leveraging a newer compiler and no code changes to the underlying software!

The nice Memcached gains were also repeated in additional tests with very healthy improvements over GCC 14.2 stable.

In other applications too were some healthy improvements out of using the GNU Compiler Collection 15.1 release on this AMD EPYC Turin server.

The Kvazaar H.265 video encoder was seeing some nice improvements too when built by GCC 15 using the same CFLAGS as GCC 14.2.

The uvg266 video encoder for H.266 video content also saw some measurable improvements from the GCC 15 build.

The VVneC encoder was also moving in the right direction.
