Intel Arc B580 Delivers Promising Linux GPU Compute Potential For Battlemage
The Intel Arc B580 was performing well for GpuOwl with similar performance to the GeForce RTX 4070... The Intel Arc A-Series graphics cards would hit GPU errors (BUILD_PROGRAM_FAILURE clBuildProgram at gpuowl-7.5/src/clwrap.cpp:245 build) but the Battlemage / B580 is running and running well.
The GpuOwl results are competitive with the GeForce RTX 4070 for raw performance and really great when considering the value of this $249 graphics card.
The global memory bandwidth measured by the OpenCL clpeak is a small improvement with Battlemage over Alchemist.
The clpeak single precision compute came in for the Arc B580 at 1.49x that of the prior gen Arc A580.
Or when it comes to the double precision compute measured by clpeak, the Intel Arc Graphics B580 is an extremely strong performer: between the RX 7900 GRE and RX 7900 XT while being ahead of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER too!
The integer compute was just a small improvement for the B580 over the A580 but already in good shape compared to the Radeon RDNA3 hardware on ROCm 6.3.
