From more and faster cores to faster memory, the HDD to SSD migration, and other improvements over the past 18 years have resulted in massive performance and power efficiency gains for code compilation from laptops. It used to be a matter of going to have a cup of coffee while compiling the Linux kernel or other codebases, but that is no longer the case with Panther Lake and other recent laptop CPUs.
