Intel's UXA 2D Performance Improvements
With the GtkDrawingArea Pixbufs test, there was also an incredible speed-up for the latest Intel X.Org driver and it is much better than where it was at with the xf86-video-intel 2.9.1 DDX found in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.
The Render Bench numbers were close to the same across the three tested platforms.
The x11perf PutImage Square performance has actually regressed in the newest driver.
The "Char in 80-char aa line" test was 2.56x faster with the 2.12 RC1 driver! Compared to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS this is a 3.88x improvement.
Certainly there are plenty of 2D/UXA performance improvements to be found in the xf86-video-intel 2.12.0 driver that is now available. There are a few 2D performance regressions it looks like, but nothing too serious when considering all of the improvements made. Besides the 2D performance improvements it also carries improved XvMC and overlay support with the addition of GEM and many bug-fixes.
