Intel GMA3150 Graphics With Ubuntu 12.10
The maximum resolution when using the HDMI connector on the ALUSA nettop was 1366 x 768, which is a GMA3150 limitation for the digital connections or 1400 x 1050 if using VGA analog. However, even at 1366 x 768, OpenArena 0.8.5 (the older shader-less release) is unplayable. The performance did improve between Ubuntu 10.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with the default packages, but currently on Ubuntu 12.10 the performance has fallen back to just 23 FPS.
For the newer OpenArena release with its more demanding graphics, the performance goes from 3 FPS on Ubuntu 10.10 to 9 FPS on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and then just shy of 9 FPS with Ubuntu 12.10. Ah, the old days of slow Intel graphics.
World of Padman is another ioquake3 case where the performance is up significantly between Ubuntu 10.10 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS but then receeded on Ubuntu 12.10.
