The New Intel Gallium3D OpenGL Driver Performance Is In Great Shape For Mesa 19.1
Overall, the Intel Gallium3D performance is looking quite good for its debut with Mesa 19.1. While not yet the default, given the rate of optimizations, we certainly feel confident that Intel can have this open-source OpenGL driver become the default before year's end.
The Intel Gallium3D driver was also performing well in the web browser Chrome/Firefox graphics benchmarks.
If looking at the geometric mean of all the OpenGL benchmarks carried out, the Intel Iris Gallium3D driver was able to inch past the current i965 default driver on Mesa 19.1 with this Iris Pro 580 NUC.
