Some Quick Tests With ZFS, F2FS, Btrfs & Friends On Linux 4.4
With the compilebench test, F2FS was leading followed by EXT4 and XFS.
With the Flexible IO Tester configuration I started out with, ZFS would not run but there are the results for the other file-systems. The FUSE-based NTFS file-system was coming out in front followed immediately by F2FS and then Btrfs for random writes.
For sequential writes it was NTFS followed by ReiserFS and XFS.
Well, for those that have been requesting some more file-system tests, particularly with the out-of-tree ZFS On Linux module, there's these fresh numbers as of Linux 4.4 stable. Once again, all of the file-systems were tested with their default mount options and other standard behavior to make these tests easily reproducibility. If you would like to see some fresh multi-SSD Linux file-system results, some fresh file-system performance tuning results, or other data points, please share your constructive feedback by commenting on this article in our forums.
