Linux 3.12 Can Change AMD's Catalyst Performance

For heavier OpenGL workloads or those very light, the Linux 3.12 CPUfreq changes will likely have no impact on the overall performance. The previous articles explain the issue in greater detail.

It's only a few percent improvement with the Linux 3.12 kernel on the Core i7 4770K + Radeon HD 7950 configuration, but it's there and reproducible due to the CPUfreq governor behavior change. The open-source Radeon and Nouveau drivers tended to make a much larger difference on OpenGL frame-rates.
