The MD5 performance was measured by John The Ripper was very close between Ubuntu and OpenSuSE.
The best performance at converting RAW image files to PPM using dcraw was found with Ubuntu, followed by OpenSuSE, and then Mandriva in last.
Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 4 did significantly better than OpenSuSE 11.2 at running PyBench.
