As far as it concerns the Intel Sandy Bridge Extreme Edition hardware with Radeon graphics and an SSD for storage, there were no real surprises out of this early Linux 3.7 kernel testing. There weren't any real performance improvements found out of the common Phoronix Test Suite test profiles spanning multiple subsystems but there also weren't any performance regressions. At least over time for the open-source graphics and EXT4 disk performance, there have been recent pre-3.7 improvements. At least for the Linux 3.7 kernel there is a lot of new features.

More tests from other x86 and ARM hardware -- and other software configurations -- on the Linux 3.7 kernel will be out in the coming weeks to explore any other changes.
