MSI 890GXM-G65
Testing:
The MSI 890GXM-G65 microATX motherboard uses an American Megatrends Inc BIOS with all of the standard bells and whistles one would expect from an enthusiast-level MSI motherboard. For easy overclocking MSI provides their OC Genie Lite. We had no issues pushing the AMD Athlon II X3 425 to a stable 3.4GHz, as we mentioned in its review.
When testing out this AMD 890GX + SB850 motherboard with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on the Linux 2.6.32 kernel we had no problems at all getting the 890GXM-G65 up and running properly. There were no real issues at all with this new microATX motherboard. Initial benchmark results for the MSI 890GXM-G65 can be found in the AMD Athlon II X3 425 review and other results on Phoronix Global, but coming soon we have many more motherboard-focused tests coming soon as we catch-up in reviewing some of AMD's other newer motherboards. We also already have up benchmarks of the AMD Radeon HD 4290 IGP under Linux. We will also look at the USB 3.0 and Serial ATA 6GB/s performance under Linux.
Conclusion:
While our testing of the MSI 890GXM-G65 is not yet complete, so far we are enjoying this motherboard and it is working well with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. This microATX motherboard sports AMD's high-end 890GX + SB850 Chipset with USB 3.0, Serial ATA 6GB/s, eSATA, a heatpipe cooling system, Radeon HD 4290 graphics with Sideport memory, and other welcomed features. At this time the MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard is currently retailing for around $130 USD at NewEgg and Amazon.
