NVIDIA 595 Linux Driver Running Well In Early Benchmarks
The Llama.cpp AI benchmarks with the Vulkan benchmark were showing performance improvements to varying degrees. For most of the tests conducted the Llama.cpp Vulkan performance was modestly improved with the NVIDIA 595 Linux driver beta but for the GPT-OSS-20b PP2048 benchmark for example was the largest improvement observed out of the different benchmarks conducted.
From my testing of the NVIDIA 595 Linux driver beta over the weekend, the 595.45.04 driver is working out well. Most important were no performance regressions observed but especially for both Vulkan graphics and compute some very nice gains seen at least for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Blackwell flagship graphics cards. More benchmarks on the way but overall the NVIDIA 595 Linux driver is looking to be a worthwhile update that is nicely aligned and should be out as stable in time for Linux 7.0 and the spring 2026 Linux distribution releases.
