Thanks to the power efficiency of the GeForce GTX 980 at 165 Watts, which is much lower than the previous highest-end NVIDIA GPUs, only dual six-pin PCI Express power connectors are required rather than any eight-pin connections.
With the GeForce GTX 980 reference card was the connections for three DisplayPort, one HDMI, and one dual-link DVI.
The design isn't too far off from the GeForce GTX 780 series besides now having the back-plate on the top of the PCB.
The GeForce GTX 980 remains SLI compatible but unfortunately due to the lack of identical cards haven't been able to run any Linux SLI benchmarks recently.
