Performance:

Initially we had planned on stressing the OCZ EliteXStream 800W with dual AMD Opteron 2356 Quad-Core processors, Tyan Thunder n3600M motherboard, and a power-hungry ATI FireGL V8600 1GB. Unfortunately, though the EliteXStream is not designed for the EPS12V specification and even when attaching an additional 4-pin molex to 4-pin +12V adapter, the system would still not power up as intended. Bringing the EliteXStream back to a normal gaming desktop motherboard, everything had worked as intended. The system components consisted of an AMD Phenom 9500, 4GB of OCZ DDR2 memory, Gigabyte MA790FX-DS5 motherboard, two Seagate 160GB SATA drives, Lite-On DVD-RW SATA drive, and an ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB. The operating system in use was Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron" with the Linux 2.6.24 kernel.

As usual, the voltage rails were monitored using a digital multimeter. The idle results were taken after letting the system idle within the GNOME desktop for 30 minutes. Load testing occurred by running loops of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for 30 minutes.
