The three Sun OS configurations were measurably slower than PC-BSD and Linux at WAV to MP3 encoding.

Ogg encoding was also much faster with Linux and PC-BSD.

PC-BSD 8.1 with a ZFS file-system was the slowest when it came to a 1GB file encryption test while the Linux and OpenSolaris operating systems ran at nearly the same speed.

The OpenSolaris operating systems went back to lagging behind the rest when it came to the MD5 performance with John The Ripper where PC-BSD was faster, but not as fast as the Ubuntu and Fedora operating systems.
