When it comes to the disk performance with Compile Bench for this single Intel M.2 solid-state drive, Ubuntu and Fedora with the default EXT4 file-system ended up being faster than ZFS on PC-BSD 10.1 in these tests. Of course, ZFS is really designed to be run on high-end storage devices while for this testing it's just a single consumer-grade SSD.

The PostMark mail server benchmark also favored the EXT4 Linux distributions over ZFS on PC-BSD. While the tests were built from source, GCC vs. Clang didn't play a role in these disk benchmarks.

SciMark 2.0 continues running stronger with LLVM/Clang than GCC. Clang running on the Linux distributions were faster than Clang on PC-BSD 10.1, but PC-BSD 10.1 was faster than GCC on the two Linux distributions.
