FreeBSD/PC-BSD 10.3 vs. Linux Benchmarks
With Compile Bench's compile test, PC-BSD 10.3 was in second place -- just behind Clear Linux 7160.
But when it came to Compile Bench's other sub-test, PC-BSD 10.3 was in second to last place -- only coming out ahead of CentOS 7 with its older compiler and kernel.
There wasn't a huge difference in the BYTE benchmark results between all of the operating systems benchmarked on this Xeon E3 v5 system, but PC-BSD 10.3 was narrowly in last place.
If you want to run your own BSD vs. Linux performance comparisons, you can easily do so using the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software that also supports Solaris, Windows, Hurd, and other platforms.
