In tests not threaded (or at least not well threaded) where instructions per clock matter, the ~$80 Pentium G4600 was a stronger performer than the ~$100 Ryzen 3 1200.

With very AVX heavy workloads, the Pentium G4600 does much better.

Or in some cases, a rough tie.

But when cores count, the Ryzen 3 1200 understandably is the front-runner.
