The upgrade from Python 3.10 to 3.12 by default for Pop!_OS made for much better Python scripting performance. Those running lots of Python software or doing a lot of Python development will enjoy better performance with Pop!_OS 24.04 if you typically rely on the OS defaults.

Overall Pop!_OS 24.04 was both looking well with its COSMIC desktop and performing well with these preliminary benchmarks using the AMD Threadripper-powered System76 Thelio Major workstation.

With the few dozen benchmarks carried out thus far, there was around a 9% geo mean improvement with this upgrade. That's pretty good considering the same Linux kernel and Mesa version on both of these Pop!_OS releases.
