The Phoronix Test Suite components for reading and writing to XML files, tandem_XmlWriter and tandem_XmlReader, have also received a host of improvements. In particular, tandem_XmlReader should now run significantly faster, which in turn should speed up several tasks within the Phoronix Test Suite since all tests, suites, and result files are written in XML. An XSL-powered results overview chart has also been added to the PTS Results Viewer.

Between Phoronix Test Suite 1.0 "Trondheim" and Phoronix Test Suite 1.2 "Malvik" there were 16,000 lines of changed code while from Malvik to Phoronix Test Suite 1.4 "Orkdal" there were 22,000 lines of changed code. Now between Orkdal and Phoronix Test Suite 1.6 "Tydal" there are nearly 25,000 lines of changed and/or new code, which makes this our largest update ever for the Phoronix Test Suite. The changes mentioned in this article are just some of the exciting features to be found in Phoronix Test Suite 1.6.
