When pushing the Radeon HD 7950 harder with the ultra image quality settings in Xonotic, from Ubuntu 14.10 (Ubuntu 14.04 couldn't handle the ultra image quality settings for this card/driver) to Ubuntu 17.10, the performance is up by 2.26x.
GLMark2 is 70% faster from Ubuntu 14.10 to 17.10.
Meanwhile, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has seen its frame-rate more than double from Ubuntu 15.04 to Ubuntu 17.10. The current CS:GO failed to run on Ubuntu 14.04/14.10. Ubuntu 17.10 delivered the peak performance for this game with the HD 7950.
Dota 2 on Steam would run back to Ubuntu 14.10. Here the performance has nearly doubled over the past three years.
