Aside from the performance between the open and closed-source drivers being matched for the Radeon HD 6870 and then for the HD 7850 actually outperforming the Catalyst driver on the newest open-source driver code, the R9 270X and R9 290 were much slower with the open-source driver.
Xonotic was much slower across the board with the open-source driver than the newest Catalyst binary blob.
